Paris Is Burning (1990) takes you into an indispensable part of history. Its portrayal of the ball culture in 1980s Harlem is honest in showing the beautiful, yet harsh reality of being a queer person of color in this period of time.

I chose to pull a series of nine stills that held a weight of their own, and screen print them onto large posters, roughly the size of a small television. In this was the ability to pay tribute to, and bring attention to this invaluable documentation of the cultural phenomenon that ensued in the late 1980s.
